Just got back from the gym and am devouring fresh bread rolls. Yes, I know that I just worked out and am eating bread so my workout probably cancels itself out with these bread rolls. But you don't understand. Bread and rolls and anything pastry related in Poland is just one of the greatest things- mostly because anytime you walk into the store, fresh rolls are being taken out of the oven. It would be illegal NOT to buy just a few. Back to the gym- I am still training for the half marathon (God help me). I think it's funny that when you sign up for a race a few months before you're supposed to do it, you are more than confident that it's pretty much gonna be a piece of cake. Then there's a few weeks or days left and you secretly are hoping that the race is cancelled altogether. I'm not saying I don't want to do it, but 13.1 miles just seems like a lot. Today at least. Tomorrow it might be a bit different. Hopefully because I literally have 9 miles to run. We shall see how that works out.
Anyways, let me tell you about my semester break. First of all, I canNOT believe it's been a year since the girls visited me in Poland! Time flies, that's for sure! I definitely didn't expect to be back in Krakow a year after we all visited. Somehow, I did make it back and had a blast as always. There's something about Krakow that gives you the modern entertainment mixed with the old feeling of the cafes and everything else. I was able to workout quite often in a really really really nice gym. It's funny how the atmosphere of your surroundings make you more "fit." We went bowling where I won three games in a row (I wish you could have seen my face...pure excitement, zero pity). Oh and we played in the snow because it finally snowed more than 2 inches in Krakow which was awesome. We also made it to a show at the theatre which I thoroughly enjoyed, especially since there was a huge discount for students that day. All in all, Krakow was a blast. After Krakow, my friend Ania and I were supposed to go down to Zakopane for two nights, but unfortunately she broke out in a high fever and felt miserable. So, I decided to cut my trip short and go up to Pulawy to visit my family instead. Seeing the fam bam is always entertaining. I wish I could explain the way we all are with one another. It's like "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" meets "Home Alone" with a splash of "The Matrix". I'm telling you, my family is a hoot! We did some face painting, ate a lot, went to Kazimierz Dolny, ate some more and laughed uncontrollably while eating. I decided to leave on Friday morning so that I could get organized and so that I wouldn't have to be rolled out of Pulawy after eating like an absolute pig.
As for my plans for the weekend- nothing too exciting to tell you the truth. I mean, I am going to switch out my winter and spring clothes which I am beyond excited about and I already cleaned my room from top to bottom which was a blast, but nothing that normal people would consider exciting. I also have to organize our Budapest trip. I am leaving to go down to Krakow (yet again) on Thursday afternoon because my flight is out of Krakow later that night. I'm so excited to go! I already have a tour figured out and we're going to the opera and to the thermal baths!!! Like I said, I am beyond excited! I shall post pictures when I get back that's for sure. Oh and I have to organize my binders because the new semester starts on Monday aka class from 8am until 7pm, five days a week for the month of March. It shall be interesting to say the least. One more thing- I dominated on those two exams I was telling you about a few weeks ago! Whooooooo! And good news, I don't have to see that awful professor until next year- yay!
Alright, I'll leave you with a few pictures! Enjoy and have a great weekend!
